Indian Test legend Bishan Singh Bedi passed away at the age of 77 on October 23. The former Indian captain, also the father of Bollywood actor Angad Bedi, was hospitalized in Delhi for two weeks prior to his demise.

Bedi is widely considered as one of the greatest left-arm spinners to have graced the game, as he clipped 266 Test wickets across 67 matches between the years 1966 and 1979.

Source reveals details around Bishan Singh Bedi demise

According to a source close to Bollywood actor Angad Bedi, his father and former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi was hospitalized in Delhi at the time of his demise. The Indian Test veteran had even undergone a surgery two weeks prior to his death.

The former Indian captain, who was known for his outspoken and forthright views around cricketing matters, even recently ventured into movie industry by making his acting debut in the Bollywood film ‘Ghoomer’, where his son Angad played one of the supporting roles.

Bishan Singh Bedi formed a formidable spin quartet for Team India alongside Erapalli Prasanna, BS Chandrasekhar and S. Venkataraghavan during his playing days.

The legendary spinner also captained India in 22 Tests, and represented his nation at the 1975 and 1979 ODI World Cups in England.
