Benny Howell inks three-year deal with Hampshire

As per the contract, Howell will represent Hampshire in white-ball cricket from the 2023 season.

The veteran all-rounder has left Gloucestershire and is set to rejoin Hampshire after ten long years.

In his reaction, Howell expressed his immense joy and excitement on reuniting with Hampshire. He also hoped to help his side script memorable victories in the upcoming seasons.

"Hampshire is the place where I learnt a great amount during my early career. It was always an elite environment so I'm extremely excited to rejoin the club after 10 years away and hopefully I can help the side compete for more trophies in the future."

Hampshire's director of cricket Giles White heaped praise on Howell for his incredible all-round abilities. White, who played 128 first-class matches, expected the 33-year-old to bring balance to Hampshire's white-ball teams and sounded pretty pleased at having him back in the Hawks' squad.

"Benny is recognised as one of the best T20 allrounders in England and it's great that he wants to finish his career where it began. He adds great depth to our squad and improves both our batting and bowling resources. It will be great to have him back with the group and we are all looking forward to seeing him perform in a Hawks shirt again next season."

Notably, Howell represented Gloucestershire in the T20 Blast with distinction, picking 11 wickets and scoring 156 runs at a marvellous strike rate of 179. Considering his incredible qualities with both bat and ball, we can say that Gloucestershire will find it difficult to replace a player of his caliber.
