The announcement comes as a big relief for Kent. The cricket club has lost two notable players namely Joey Evison and Matt Milnes to Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire.

Stewart has been a great asset to the team. The all-rounder has impressed with his wicket-taking and power-hitting abilities. He has represented Kent in 89 matches since September 2017. The 28-year-old has a whopping 100 wickets to his name along with 1400 runs.

Stewart backs Kent to bounce back in the coming years

Stewart was a part of the Kent squad that won the T20 Blast tournament last year. The batter will hope for a good time after a relatively dry spell with Sussex earlier this year.

Stewart is hopeful of making a big contribution to Kent’s success in the coming years. The all-rounder also seemed optimistic about the team bouncing back strongly after their torrid performances this season.

“I’m really pleased to sign an extension to my Kent contract for at least two more years. We’ve faced some setbacks as a squad this year, [but] I believe we’ll be better for it in the coming years.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of that. Kent’s a great club, full of great people, and I’m hopeful I can play a big part in bringing more success to the club,” Stewart said as quoted by Kent Online.

Downtown hails Stewart’s inclusion in the Kent squad

Meanwhile, Kent’s Director of Cricket, Paul Downtown, also heaped praises on the 28-year-old. The official seemed highly impressed with Stewart’s all-round skills. Downtown believes that the inclusion of the Italy star will act as an asset for the team.

“Grant has the ability to take the new ball in both red-ball and white-ball cricket has developed good skills in the middle and later overs of white-ball matches and can hit the ball out of the park.

“He has become a key contributor to the team; his work ethic is exceptional and his appetite to improve his skills is second to none. We believe Grant’s cricket will go from strength to strength and we’re delighted that he has committed to Kent for at least two more seasons,” Kent’s Director of Cricket mentioned.
