After the defeat, Pakistan skipper Bismah Maroof praised the Indian players for their collective team effort. She credited the Indian spinners for bowling in the right areas throughout the match, and also praised the batters for overhauling their target without much effort.

The Pakistani all-rounder attributed India’s success to their participation in competitive T20 leagues. During a post-match confrontation with the media, Maroof said:

“Indian players have developed confidence because of opportunities to play in the leagues, which is not the case with our players”.

The Pakistan team will now face reigning T20 World Champions Australia in a must-win game on August 3 at the same venue.

A win for the Bismah Maroof-led side with a heavy margin will not be enough, as they will also be hoping for India Women to lose their last group game against Barbados. As of now, the Group A points table is headlined by Australia, followed by India, Barbados and Pakistan at the bottom.
