The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to retain the iconic Sawai Mansingh Stadium as the optimum home venue for the Rajasthan Royals franchise in the upcoming IPL 2026 season. The Royals franchise is reportedly considering alternate home options for IPL this year after a fallout with their age-old fortress.
As confirmed by the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA), the Rajasthan Royals franchise has shortlisted the MCA Stadium in Pune as their new home venue for IPL 2026.
Rajasthan Cricket appeals to BCCI amid infrastructure concern
Last year, the Rajasthan Royals franchise expressed certain concerns with the infrastructure of the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The inaugural winners have since sought consideration of alternate home venues ahead of the IPL 2026 season, and have even zeroed in on Pune’s MCA Stadium.
The RCA has now written a strong appeal to the BCCI, urging the Indian board to retain the Jaipur venue for IPL 2026 season this year as Rajasthan Royals’ home base.
As reported by Cricbuzz, a letter sent to the BCCI by the RCA over the last few days mentions that the cricket association is ready to address all the concerns of the Rajasthan Royals regarding the venue. The RCA also stated “unequivocally” that the Sawai Mansingh Stadium is “structurally sound and operationally safe”.
The RCA officials further added that the Sawai Mansingh Stadium is currently in the midst of hosting several Vijay Hazare Trophy fixtures, and the matches have already witnessed bigger spectator turn outs without any “safety or security incidents”.
The RCA also assured in completely co-operating with the BCCI and Rajasthan Royals to ensure a “smooth, secure and successful conduct of IPL 2026” in Jaipur.
The Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur has remained Rajasthan Royals’ primary home base since the inaugural edition of the tournament back in 2008.
As of now, it remains to be seen if the Rajasthan Royals franchise will reconsider its stance and continue with Jaipur as its home venue for IPL 2026.
