Sachin Tendulkar will likely be conferred with another major recognition for his contribution towards Indian cricket. A recent report indicates that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering to grant the former Indian cricketer the prestigious CK Nayudu award at the BCCI annual awards function.

The award ceremony will be taking place in Mumbai on Saturday, February 1.

Sachin Tendulkar to win an award at BCCI awards?

As reported by Cricbuzz, Sachin Tendulkar will mostly likely be receiving an award at the BCCI annual awards function on Saturday, February 1. While it is yet to determine the exact award he is designated for, several reports claim that the legendary Indian batter is set to become the latest recipient of the CK Nayudu award.

The prestigious award was previously won by former Indian all-rounder and ex-national head coach Ravi Shastri back in 2024. India’s 1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev has also been conferred with the CK Nayudu award for his lifetime achievement, alongside former cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, Syed Mushtaq Ali, Vijay Hazare, Mohinder Amarnath and Bishan Singh Bedi, among others.

Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut at a tender age of 16 back in 1989, went on to serve Indian cricket for over the next two decades. The legendary Indian batter confirmed his retirement in 2013 to depart the game as its leading run-maker and leading centurion.

With 15,921 Test runs and another 18,426 runs in ODIs, Tendulkar’s career aggregate reads a staggering 34,357. Moreover, he is also the only player in the world to tally 100 international tons, and is actively the leading century-maker in Test cricket (51).

Amidst all his individual accolades, Sachin Tendulkar reached his pinnacle during the twilight of his career in 2011 by lifting the coveted World Cup prize in front of his home crowd.
