The BCCI will hold its Apex Council meeting on December 22. And the biggest talking point is expected to be the revision of match fees for women cricketers in domestic cricket.

After India’s memorable ODI World Cup triumph last month, the demand for better pay and stronger support for women players has grown louder. And the board is finally ready to act.

Women’s cricketers’ pay hike on BCCI’s agenda for upcoming meet

According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI is preparing to revise the match fees across all women’s domestic tournaments, including the Senior One-Day, Senior T20, and the multi-day competitions.

The push comes not just from the World Cup victory but also from the growing pool of female talent across India and the increasing popularity of women’s cricket after the WPL.

Several state associations have reportedly urged the board to bring pay closer to global standards so that more players can pursue the sport full-time without financial pressure.

If approved, the revision will be one of the most important steps taken by Indian cricket this year. Better fees mean more security for young players, improved training options, and a clearer pathway to the national team.

The Apex Council Meeting of the BCCI will be held on December 22, with 6 agendas to be discussed, including the revision of contracts for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma since they’re playing only one format.

Mithun Manhas will lead this key meeting

BCCI’s newly elected president, Mithun Manhas, will chair his first Apex Council meeting later this month.

Apart from revising the pay structure for domestic women cricketers, the board will also review payments for umpires and match referees. Additionally, the stakeholders will receive updates on BCCI’s digital platforms.
