BCCI Discloses The Real Reason Behind Hardik Pandya's Shocking World Cup Exit

The BCCI has disclosed the underlying reason for Hardik Pandya's absence from the ongoing ICC Men's  World Cup 2023. Unfortunately, India faced a significant setback when the star all-rounder sustained an ankle injury while making a valiant effort to stop the ball during a match against Bangladesh in Pune. This injury forced Hardik to miss all subsequent matches, ultimately leading to his replacement with pacer Prasidh Krishna just before the clash with South Africa.

Hardik, deeply disappointed by missing the rest of the World Cup, expressed his spirit of support for the team on social media. Initially, it was hoped that he would return for the knockout matches, as India had secured a spot in the semis. Reports indicated that he had resumed training in Bengaluru.

However, a reemergence of swelling in his left ankle put his bowling fitness in doubt. The injury was described as a minor tear without a fracture, but the swelling persisted, making it impossible to manage with injections.

Here's what BCCI sources said:

"As it has been said earlier, Pandya doesn't have any fracture and only had minor tear. He had resumed training but suddenly considerable amount of swelling developed in left ankle region and he wouldn't have been fit to bowl."

He further added

"This is not some injury which could be managed with injections. Considerable swelling resurfaced on Thursday and unless it subsides, he can't do skills training for some more time."

As of November 5, India is set to play against South Africa at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, followed by a match against the Netherlands in Bengaluru to continue their journey in the tournament. Hardik Pandya's absence is a significant loss for the team as they strive to perform their best in the World Cup.
