The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that they are looking for a new head coach as the contract of the current coach, Rahul Dravid, is set to expire. However, there is a possibility that Dravid's contract may be extended as well.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced in Mumbai that India will be searching for a new head coach as Rahul Dravid's contract is set to end by June, following the conclusion of the T20 World Cup.

BCCI looking for applicants

BCCI is currently inviting applications from eligible candidates for the position, including Rahul Dravid. The final decision on the selection of the head coach will be made by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).

According to reports BCCI will consider both Indian and foreign coaches for the role.

Stability is the key

BCCI is looking for stability in the coaching setup and seeks a long-term commitment from the coach. Therefore, they will be offering a three-year contract, with an eye on the next ODI World Cup in 2027.

The selection of supporting coaches will depend on the appointment of the head coach. The batting coach, fielding coach, and bowling coach will be selected after the head coach is appointed, to ensure alignment with the ideology of the head coach.

BCCI want All format coach

The priority is to find a coach capable of handling all three formats of the game. BCCI has not appointed separate coaches for different formats in the past, and this approach will continue.

BCCI is seeking a long-term coach with vision and stability, someone who can lead Indian cricket for the next three years and deliver results.
