One of the most exciting and destructive batters to play for New Zealand, Colin Munro has announced his retirement from the international cricket arena with immediate effect on Friday, May 10.
The dynamic left-hander, who last represented the Black Caps in the fifth T20I against India at Bay Oval in 2020, leaves behind a remarkable legacy in New Zealand cricket. Across 65 T20Is, 57 ODIs, and a solitary test match, Munro amassed over 3,000 international runs and claimed seven wickets.

Expressing his deep pride in donning the Black Caps jersey, Colin Munro stated that now felt like the appropriate moment to bring his international journey to a close.
"Playing for the Black Caps has always been the pinnacle of my career. Wearing that jersey on 123 occasions across all formats is an achievement that fills me with immense pride."
Munro's cricketing odyssey commenced at the 2006 ICC Under 19 World Cup before he made his senior international debut in 2012-13 during a tour of South Africa.
He quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with in white-ball cricket, featuring prominently for the Black Caps in T20Is and ODIs between 2016 and 2019. The southpaw also represented New Zealand in multiple T20 World Cups and the 2019 ODI World Cup in England.
Munro leaves behind staggering legacy
As he bids adieu to the international arena, Munro leaves behind a legacy as one of New Zealand's most prolific T20 batter. He currently sits as the Black Caps' sixth-highest run-scorer in T20Is, amassing 1,724 runs at an impressive average of 31 and a striking rate of 156.4.
Notably, he holds the record for the most T20 international centuries by a New Zealander, with three to his name.
Among his many achievements, Munro's blistering 47-ball century against West Indies at Bay Oval in 2018 stands out as a landmark moment. It was not only the fastest T20 century for New Zealand at the time but also solidified his status as the first player from his country to register three T20l hundreds.
