The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced their annual player retainership of 2022-23 for the senior women's cricket team. The grade structures are divided into three grades - A, B, and C, where as many as 17 women players have been drafted.

India's all-format skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, one of the leading openers in world cricket Smriti Mandhana, and the ever-consistent all-rounder Deepti Sharma have been given Grade A contracts.

India's Under-19 winning captain Shafali Verma, leading wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh, swing bowler Renuka Thakur, middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues and spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad have been handed out Grade B retainers.

Grade C will have upcoming players like Anjali Sarvani, Meghna Singh, Harleen Deol, Radha Yadav, and Yastika Bhatia in the mix along with experienced campaigners like Sneh Rana, Devika Vaidya, Pooja Vastrakar, and Sabbineni Meghna.

It has been a landmark year for women's cricket in India with the successful completion of the first-ever Women's Premier League (WPL) last month.

India's Under-19 Women's team went on to win the ICC U19 T20 Women's World Cup in South Africa earlier this year.

Under Kaur, India reached the semi-final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
