In what could be a significant development, promising spinner Todd Murphy has extended his stay with the Sydney Sixers ahead of the twelfth season of the Big Bash League. This will be Murphy's second successive season in the Sixers' jersey, as he already represented them last year as a replacement for veteran spinner Steve O'Keefe.

The Sixers' head coach Greg Shipperd hailed Murphy for being a proper team man. He also addressed the tweaker as an able all-phase bowler and explained how his inclusion could ensure balance in the team.

Here's what Shipperd stated

"Todd has some exquisite skills and a genuine team first attitude that will complement our group. He can bowl through the phases, and this versatility is one of the keys to our flexibility as a group. He provides the same in the field and his batting is emerging."

Notably, Murphy is regarded as one of Australia's emerging stars. In four first-class matches, the right-arm off-spinner has scalped 18 wickets at an impressive economy of 2.89.

Although the 21-year-old has a handful of victims to his name in T20s, he has recorded a surreal economy of under six. Considering his incredible talent, we expect him to be the Sixers' trump card in the tournament.
