[Watch] Marco Jansen’s Purple Patch Continues; Abdullah Shafique Falls Early

Marco Jansen, who is having a tournament to remember in India in the ongoing World Cup, continued to impress the spectators on Friday (October 27) during South Africa's all-important clash against Pakistan in Chennai.

In a match where the Men in Green desperately wanted to get a win to keep their World Cup hopes alive, they got off to a disastrous start, as Jansen dismissed the in-form Abdullah Shafique inside the first five overs of play.

Jansen bowled a back-of-a-length delivery to encourage Shafique for a pull. The Pakistani opener did exactly that, but the timing was not there due to an extra bounce generated from the pitch by Jansen. The ploy worked as the ball went straight to Lungi Ngidi at deep square leg, resulting in Shafique losing his wicket after a 17-ball 9.

The six-foot-eight-inch player was delighted after seeing his ploy work, and was seen pumped in the middle of the pitch after the wicket.

As of writing, Pakistan lost Imam-ul-Haq as well, to Jansen. The Men in Green have slipped to 38/2 after 6.3 overs, with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan having the responsibility to revive the innings.
