Pakistan's journey in the ICC World Cup 2023 has been nothing short of a roller-coaster ride. After securing two thumping wins, the Men in Green incurred crushing defeats against India, Australia and Afghanistan. As they are reeling at fifth in the points table, the upcoming clash against South Africa is a do-or-die fixture for them, as another loss will lead them to a group-stage elimination.

Ahead of the all-important face-off, the Pakistan Cricket Board has issued an official statement, urging the fans to support the team in these difficult times.

"The PCB acknowledges the emotions and sentiments of cricket fans following the three consecutive defeats faced by the national team in the ICC World Cup 2023. In this challenging environment, the board administration hopes that the cricketing fraternity and fans will continue to support captain Babar Azam and the entire Pakistan cricket team," the statement read.

The apex body also hoped the national side to bounce back, miraculously making it into the playoffs by winning the remaining fixtures.

"The national team still has four crucial matches remaining in the round-robin stage, and the PCB is optimistic that the team will regroup, overcome the setbacks and perform positively and effectively in the upcoming fixtures," it further added.

Concluding the statement, the PCB made it clear that it would take the necessary actions for the betterment of Pakistan Cricket once the tournament gets over.

"Looking ahead, the board will make decisions in the best interest of Pakistan cricket based on the team's performances in the World Cup. At present, the PCB encourages fans, former players and stakeholders to rally behind the team as they strive to make a triumphant comeback in the mega-event."

After facing South Africa, Pakistan will take on New Zealand, England and Bangladesh in their remaining World Cup fixtures.
