Lucknow Super Giants seamer Avesh Khan picked his 100th wicket in the shortest format of the game (T20) during his sides' maiden outing [against the Delhi Capitals] at their home venue in the Tata IPL 2023.

The Madhya Pradesh couldn't have asked for a better player to be his 100th T20 victim than the legendary David Warner.

After having dismissed Aman Khan at the start of his 2nd spell, Avesh capped it off by outfoxing the Delhi Capitals' skipper with a slower one.

Avesh has thus far played 78 T20s, in which he taken 100 wickets at  23/8.14. Out of those 98 wickets, 47 have come in the Indian Premier League. He eventually finished with figures of 2/29 in 4 overs as LSG sealed a thumping 50-run win over DC.

Mark Wood turns up the heat at Ekana

While it was a special night for Avesh Khan, the night really belonged to England's bolter, Mark Wood.

Back in the biggest T20 extravaganza on the planet after a long gap of 5 years, Wood turned on the heat on the Capitals' top-order, bullying them with raw pace and sustained hostility.

The Durham bolter had a dream start as he knocked over the stumps of Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh on consecutive deliveries in his very first over.

In his next over, Wood had Sarfaraz Khan hooping and ducking, before eventually knocking him over with a short delivery, which the batter could only uppercut to the fine-leg fielder.

Wood returned to clean up Axar Patel and Chetan Sakariya to complete a well-deserved five-for and finish with match-winning figures of 5-14 (4).
