In a massive setback to England, explosive middle-order batter Harry Brook has withdrawn from the upcoming India Tests, citing personal reasons. Brook's absence could be a significant blow for England, who are eyeing a historic series win over the home team in the much-anticipated Test series. Middle-order batter Dan Lawrence, who recently grabbed a million eyeballs through his all-round prowess in the Big Bash League, has replaced Brook in the Test squad.

England's strongest Playing XI For 1st Test vs India

Regarding England, the visitors will likely open the batting with the dynamic duo of Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. These batters ensure an ideal left-right combination at the top and can capitalise on the hard new ball to give their team a rollicking start.

One between Ollie Pope and Dan Lawrence will be slotted at number three. Although England will likely prefer Pope, at least for the first match, Lawrence's useful off-spin makes him a more valuable asset in India.

Veteran batter Joe Root, who has had prolific success on Indian soil, will bat at number four, followed by the explosive duo of Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes. Meanwhile, Ben Foakes, known for his incredible keeping against spinners, will don the keeper's hat.

While James Anderson will spearhead the pace attack alongside Mark Wood, Jack Leach will lead England's spin attack. Rehan Ahmed will likely be preferred ahead of Tom Hartley and Shoaib Bashir for Leach's deputy, as he can also score handy runs down the order.
