Invited among the special faces by the reigning Indian government, batting legend Virat Kohli on Monday (January 22) reached Ayodhya for the ritual of 'Pran Pratishtha' for the 'Lord Ram' temple. Kohli became one of the big-name individuals and dignitaries to attend the occasion organised by the authorities.

A clip of Kohli reaching Ayodhya after being sent the invitation was captured before the ceremony and celebrations for the opening of Lord Ram temple begins amongst the believers and those inclined towards faith.

The 35-year-old global cricketing icon had speculations rife on his Ayodhya arrival. Some felt he might not be able to attend the ceremony due to his commitments with the Indian team ahead of the England series. But Kohli reached the place after undergoing his first practice session in Hyderabad

Apart from Kohli, 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar is also expected to grace the occasion in Ayodhya. Tendulkar had been invited by the Indian government to attend the ceremony, which will be a ritualistic process of infusing life into the deity's idol or image.

After the ceremony, Kohli will immediately fly back to Hyderabad ahead of the opening Test of the five-match series against England, starting Thursday (January 25).

The Test series is critical for the great batter to reinforce his dominance over the Englishmen, who arrive on Indian shores with their newfound 'Bazball' tactics to ruffle the hosts.

Kohli is just nine runs away from becoming only the third Indian batter in Test cricket history to produce 2,000 or more runs against England after his inspiration Tendulkar and fellow legend Sunil Gavaskar.
