After winning the first Test at Perth quite convincingly, CA has named Australia's squad for the upcoming 'Boxing Day' match at Melbourne against Pakistan, which gets underway on December 26.

The selectors have shortened the squad, which will now see 13 players instead of 14, having released fast bowler Lance Morris.

Morris, 25, did not play the first encounter and will now head into the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-204 and feature for Perth Scorchers.

Pat Cummins will remain captain and have Cameron Green and Scott Boland as the 12th and 13th players in the squad, both of whom were benched during the Perth Test.

Australia notched up a comfortable win at Perth, wrapping the Test under four days and clinching the encounter by a mammoth 360-run margin, gaining a crucial 1-0 lead over Pakistan.

While Australian players will rest prior to the second Test, Pakistan will be involved in a two-day practice match against Victoria XI, which will be held on December 22 and 23.

Meanwhile, Cummins has hinted that Australia, in all likelihood, will play the same XI that won the Perth Test at Melbourne with no injury concerns to the bowlers.
