History was created in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction as Prashant Veer, who was already in the limelight before the auction, was sold to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for a whopping 14.20 crore and thus, he became the most expensive uncapped player in the IPL history.
Previously, it was Avesh Khan, who was bought by LSG for INR 10 crore and he carried the tagline of the most expensive uncapped buy.
Who is Prashant Veer, the most expensive uncapped player in IPL
Prashant Veer, the 20-year-old Uttar Pradesh all-rounder, is a perfect like-for-like replacement for the outgoing Ravindra Jadeja and just like Jadeja, he is a left-arm orthodox spinner.
In his short T20 career, Veer has amassed 112 runs, with a strike rate of 167.16. His hard-hitting abilities will come in handy for CSK as the team needs an aggressive batter in the middle-order. Moreover, he has also taken 12 wickets, with an impressive economy rate of 6.45.
J&K pacer roped in by DC for 8.40 crore
Similarly, Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi had also carved a name for himself in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali (SMAT) trophy and also in the Ranji Trophy. A new ball bowler, Nabi, is accurate with his lines and lengths, and before the IPL 2026 mini auction, Nabi was expected to fetch a hefty amount, and that’s exactly what happened.
When Nabi’s name popped up, several teams had a tug of war to snap him in the auction, and the likes of RCB, RR, DC, and SRH all went in a war to get their hands on the Jammu pacer, as Delhi Capitals purchased him for a whopping 8.40 crore. He became the 8th most expensive uncapped buy, equalling Varun Chakaravarthy.
