Finally, the Indian stalwart Virat Kohli managed to end his century drought in international cricket after nearly three years.

In India's last Asia Cup 2022 fixture against Afghanistan, Kohli opened for the team along with stand-in captain KL Rahul in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Arriving at the top, he certainly had more time to construct his innings and flourish in the death overs.

Rahul (62) and Kohli added 119 runs for the first wicket, which already put the Men in Blue in the driver's seat. Then, the 33-year-old steered the team at a lavish rate to remain unbeaten on 122 off 61 balls, laced with 12 fours and six maximums. Asa result, India finished with a mammoth score of 212/2.

In this pursuit, the 33-year-old also registered the highest individual score by an Indian in the shortest format. Sharma held this record ahead of this match, when he scored 118 against Sri Lanka in December 2017.

In the break between the innings, Kohli expressed his delight to finally reach the three figures mark in international cricket. He also added that the break of one month helped him to be fresh for the Asia Cup.

Further, Kohli dedicated the award to her wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika.

"Very blessed, and very grateful right now. The last two and half years have taught me a lot, I am going to turn 34 in November, so the celebrations are for the past. I have put a lot of things into perspective. I was a bit shocked as this was the format I least expected for a century to come any time soon.

"This hundred is specially dedicated to her and our little daughter Vamika as well. When you have someone next to you, having conversations, putting the things in right perspective like I have been and Anushka has been by my side through these times, time away from the game has taught me a lot of things."

Meanwhile, here is how Twitter reacted to Kohli's ton.
