Pakistan Junior League 2022 Team names unveiled

Pakistan Cricket on Thursday unveiled the names of all six teams participating in the Junior League (PJL) 2022. The tournament is slated to take place from 6th to 21st October at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. 

All the teams were given their respective identity ahead of the Player Draft taking place in Lahore today. 

The names of the six teams are, Bahawalpur Royals, Gujranwala Giants, Gwadar Sharks, Hyderabad Hunters, Mardan Warriors and Rawalpindi Raiders. 

The names for all teams have been assigned on the basis of their geography, culture and heritage, who also represent six cricket associations of the country. 

Furthermore, the likes of Gordon Parsons, Ijaz Ahmed Snr, Mushtaq Ahmed, Abdul Razzaq, Abdur Rehman and Toby Radford have also been announced as the head coach of respective six teams. 

Additionally, the mentors are Daren Sammy (Hunters), Shahid Afridi (Warriors), Shoaib Malik (Giants), Imran Tahir (Royals), Sir Vivian Richards (Sharks) and Colin Munro (Raiders). 

Rehan Ahmed, Thomas Aspinwall among top foreign picks in PJL 

In the initial draft picks of the PJL 2022, talented foreign cricketers Rehan Ahmed and Thomas Aspinwall have found their place in the Royals and Warriors squad respectively. 

In the T20 Blast 2022, Ahmed scalped 19 wickets in 14 games for Leicestershire. The quick pacer Aspinwall recently scalped a total of eight wickets in two games for England U-19 against Sri Lanka U-19. 

In addition, Mohammad Nabi's son Hassan Esaikhel has been selected to play for the Raiders.
