India batter Virat Kohli is closing in on a major milestone as he aims to claim another record in the upcoming Asia Cup tie against Pakistan.

Talking about the feat, Kohli is just three maximums shy of the 100-sixes mark in the T20Is. Rohit Sharma is the only Indian on the list of batters with 100 or more T20I sixes and is closely followed by the former national skipper, who at the moment, has 97 sixes to his name in the shortest format of the game.

Sitting at the numero uno spot, New Zealand's Martin Guptill has smashed 172 sixes in the T20I cricket. While Rohit occupies the second position with 165 sixes, Chris Gayle, who hammered 124 sixes in his T20I career, is settled at the third spot currently.

Here is the full list:

  • Martin Guptill (172)
  • Rohit Sharma (165)
  • Chris Gayle (124)
  • Eoin Morgan (120)
  • Aaron Finch (117)
  • Paul Stirling (111)
  • Evin Lewis (110)
  • Colin Munro (107)
  • David Warner (100)

If Kohli achieves the feat, he will be the 10th overall batter to do so.

Kohli's return to form

It has been a decent Asia Cup campaign for Kohli. The 33-year-old is India's top-scorer in the tournament with 94 runs in two matches.

The right-hander will again attract limelight as India lock horns with Pakistan on September 4 at Dubai.
