APL 2022 | GOD vs VZW | Vizag Warriors romp home as Hebbar, Anjaneyulu humble Godavari Titans

As it happened, Vizag Warriors (VZW) stunted Godavari Titans' (GOD) winning momentum by registering a thumping victory over them today.

With these two teams facing off in the seventh match of the Andhra Premier (APL) 2022, rain gods finally heard the fans' prayers and greeted them with a full 40-over game.

Opting to field first, Godavari Titans would now be ruing their decision. On a pitch that has been tough to score, the Vizag batters navigated their innings well against the run of play.

For VZW, it was their opening partnership that stood out. Uppara Girinath and Ashwin Hebbar laid a solid foundation for their team, engaging in a 98-run partnership.

Despite being outdone in the 40s by SK Ismail, both these batters played a crucial role for VZW in posting a challenging total.

Ismail continued with his magical touch, providing two more breakthroughs in the form of middle-order batters Vinukonda Venu and Karan Shinde.

However, Dhruva Kumar Reddy's 19-ball-26 and Naren Reddy's 23-ball-25 took Vizag to 185 at the end of 20 overs.

Godavari Titans, in reply, got a good start, with their openers riding the team on the right path to achieve the target with their 88-run first-wicket partnership. While M Hemanth Reddy scored 35-ball 57, Mamidi Vamsi Krishna smashed 31 runs to set the tone.

However, as both the batters departed within 21 balls, it all went downhill for the Titans. The Warriors bossed the match from thereon, courtesy of Midde Anjaneyulu's magnificent three-for.

While it looked like Godavari Titans had a realistic chance of winning the fixture at one stage, it eventually panned out as a one-sided affair.

All the Titans could manage was 141/9, losing the match by a whopping margin of 44 runs.

Brief scores:

Vizag Warriors - 185/5 (20)
