The fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Russell has only announced retirement from international cricket and will continue to play T20 leagues across the globe, including the IPL. Notably, Russell didn't give the reason behind his retirement, but it is touted to be because of his desire to play more franchise cricket across the world.
At present, Russell features in all T20 leagues such as the BBL, Bangla Premier League, Lanka Premier League, The Hundred, CPL, and the Indian Premier League.

Russell's IPL journey began in 2012 when he signed for Delhi Capitals. The 37-year-old made a shift to KKR in 2014 and won a title in his inaugural season. Over the years, Russell has become one of the key members of the Men in Black and Gold alongside Sunil Narine.
Talking about Russell's stats for the Knight Riders, the all-rounder has 2651 runs in 140 matches, averaging 28.20. Meanwhile, he has also let the ball talk and taken 123 wickets.
