Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ADKR) all rounder Andre Russell and batter Sherfane Rutherford found themselves at the receiving end of scrutiny from the match officials after their clash against Sharjah Warriors (SW) on December 22. The duo was found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct on separate incidents, leading to a fine for each.
Former umpire and the match referee Simon Taufel was the one who assessed the situations and imposed fines on the duo at the end of the match, where the Warriors emerged victorious by 4 wickets.

As per the official press release on the ILT20 website, Rutherford was fined 50% of his match fees for breaching Article 2.2 for the second time in this tournament. The Article 2.2 deals with the offences relating to any misconduct on the field of play, if a player is found abusing any cricket or equipment, clothing, or fixtures and fittings during the match.
Russell was also charged with the same offence; however, having found guilty for the first time, he was only penalised with 10% of his match fee from the loss.
While batting first on the day, ADKR suffered a shocking collapse and found themselves 10/4 in 3.5 overs. Batting at 6, Rutherford scored 44(36), with four fours and a six. On the other hand, Russell got 18(12), with two sixes to his name to take the team total to 134/9 in 20 overs.
The Sikandar Raza-led Sharjah side chased down the total on the final ball of the innings with 4 wickets in hand. Somerset star James Rew top-scored with 42(29) with 4 fours and a six. Russell went wicketless in his four overs, conceding 36 runs.
