In a significant development, Australia have made a one late change to their T20I squad ahead of the upcoming five-match series against India, starting Wednesday, October 29, 2025. It is vital to note that young leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha has been included in the squad and will replace Adam Zampa, who has made himself unavailable for the start of the series due to personal reasons.
Zampa to miss start of series due to personal reasons
According to reports from the ESPN, Adam Zampa will miss the start of the T20I series as his wife, Harriet, is expecting their second child.
In his absence, 23-year-old Tanveer Sangha will step in to fill the void. Sangha has represented Australia in seven T20Is so far, all played between August and December 2023. He made an instant impact on debut with figures of 4/31 against South Africa. Overall, he has taken 10 wickets at an economy rate of 8.89.
It is also important to note that Zampa had also missed the first ODI of the recently concluded series between India and Australia due to travel reasons but played the last two ODIs.
Australia’s squad rotation ahead of busy season
With the Ashes 2025-26 on the horizon, Australia have opted for a rotational approach to manage player workloads. Mitchell Marsh will lead the side, while Glenn Maxwell is set to return for the final three T20Is after recovering from a wrist fracture.
Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will play the first two matches, and Sean Abbott will be available for the first three games. The selectors have also included uncapped pacer Mahli Beardman for the last three fixtures.
The five-match T20I series will begin on October 29, followed by the second match on October 31 at MCG. The third, fourth and the fifth matches will be played on November 2, November 6 and November 8, respectively.
