Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has filed a complaint against shoe businessman Kamlesh Parikh and his son Dhruv Parikh for allegedly duping him of ₹33 lakh.

Notably, Kamlesh Parikh has previously served as a manager of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). Earlier this year, father of Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar had also lodged a complain against him for allegedly swindling Chahar’s wife Jaya Bhardwaj of ₹10 lakh.

Upon Aakash Chopra’s complaint, police registered an FIR under IPC Section 406 (criminal breach of trust) against former HCA manager Kamlesh Parikh and his son Dhruv Parikh.

According to Chopra, he had invested a sum of ₹57.8 lakh into Dhruv Parikh in their sports shoes business. Dhruv was slated to return the money with a 20 percent profit inside 30 days, however, he has only returned ₹24.5 lakh so far even though a full year has been passed.

Station House Officer of the Hariparwat Police Station Arvind Kumar said that they are examining the necessary documents and evidence and will be taking further action into their investigation. Kumar added that they will also be inviting the accused for questioning.

Aakash Chopra, who played 10 Test matches for Team India during his playing days, announced his retirement from all forms of the game in 2015.

Since his exit from the sport, Chopra has shifted his focus to commentary duties, and he even opened up his own YouTube channel where he provides his astute analysis over worldwide cricketing affairs.
