On Tuesday, a historic and almost once-in-a-lifetime experience occurred as Samoa batter Darius Visser scripted history and etched his name in the record books as she smashed six sixes in a 39-run over against Vanuatu in the T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Region Qualifier game in Apia.

This is not just a record, but a significant milestone in the history of T20I cricket. Visser's 39-run over, with six sixes, has now become the highest run scored in a single over in T20I history, surpassing the previous record of 36 runs achieved five times before in the shortest format of the game.

Vanuatu's Nalin Nipiko, who bowled the fifteenth over, included three no-balls. The first three balls were all deposited over the deep mid-wicket region for three huge maximums, after which the tensed bowler Nipiko bowled another no-ball, where he was mercilessly thrashed for another six by Visser.

The very next ball was a dot ball when Visser hit a straight shot that rattled the stumps of the non-striker's end.

Interestingly, Visser is the first Samoa men's batter to score a T20I century. His 14 iconic sixes in the innings are also the fifth-highest of all time.

Moreover, the 132 runs scored by Visser out of the team total of 174 has given him the top spot for the highest percentage of runs in a single T20I innings, with his contribution of 75.86% going past the previous record of 75.1% achieved by Aaron Finch.
