Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has left fans buzzing after a fiery net session at the Wankhede Stadium, where the all-rounder was seen smashing sixes with trademark swagger while audibly hyping himself up.

The intense practice comes amid mounting pressure on the five-time champions, who are fighting to keep their IPL 2025 playoff hopes alive. Hardik Pandya, who has scored 11 runs at a strike rate of 64.71 this season, has faced criticism for inconsistent batting and MI’s middling sixth-place standing.

However, Pandya looked in ominous touch during the net session. Video clips released by Mumbai Indians on their social media handle show him muttering tactical notes like “Wait for the slower one” between deliveries before launching a six, followed by a self-affirming “Shot yaar, Hardik!” – a glimpse of his psychological prep to simulate match intensity.

Notably, Pandya's aggressive approach signals intent to lead from the front as MI faces another test against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 4 at Ekana Stadium.

When Will Jasprit Bumrah Return To Mumbai?

Meanwhile, Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to play the LSG game after missing out the first three, as he hasn’t received fitness clearance after a back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Although he has resumed light training at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, Bumrah is expected to join MI mid-April.

For the unaware, MI began the season with two losses but bounced back strongly in their last match, defeating KKR by eight wickets. Ashwani Kumar’s brilliant spell helped restrict KKR to 116, and Ryan Rickelton’s quick-fire half-century ensured MI chased down the target in under 13 overs, sealing their first win of the season.
