Sri Lanka's tournament has been fluctuating, with the team running hot and cold at times. They lost their first three games of the season before winning a couple of them- against Netherlands and England. However, they were defeated by Afghanistan's Hashmatullah Shahidi and his men by seven wickets in their most recent match.

Currently, the Lions find them in the seventh position and will look to win all the remaining matches to test their luck for the semi-finals.

Let us have a quick look at the Sri Lanka predicted XI against India.

Openers: Dimuth Karunaratne and Pathum Nissanka

The Sri Lankan side will look to go with the pair of Dimuth Karunaratne and Pathum Nissanka as their sole openers. The left-hander did not get an adequate chance and should continue to play a role at the top of the order instead of Kusal Perera. Nissanka, on the other hand, has been in gleeful touch and has piled up 289 runs from six innings. He has scored back-to-back five forty-plus scores.

Middle Order- Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka

The captain, Kusal Mendis was in blazing form with the bat at the start of the tournament. Even in the Warm-up games he scored a 150 and also notched up a ton against Pakistan. However, his recent numbers after becoming the captain have gone down a bit. Nevertheless, Mendis will be an integral component of the team.

Sadeera Samarawickrama is the highest run-scorer for Sri Lanka in the ongoing World event with 333 runs from six innings. He and Charith Asalanka play a crucial role in the middle order for the Lankan Lions. They have a history of stabilizing the innings for Sri Lanka and avoiding any unnecessary collapse.

All-rounders: Angelo Mathews, and Dhananjaya de Silva

Angelo Mathews is back in the Lankan side and will be a key member of the team. The best part for Sri Lanka is that the veteran is playing as an all-rounder. He got some numbers under the wickets column against England and is a great addition to the leading group of the team.

Dhananjaya de Silva has been slightly off form at the moment. His finger spin can be valuable and can offer a full quota of ten overs on any day. Also, de Silva's batting capability lower down the order is good enough to be a recognisable no. 7.

Bowlers: Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha, Dilshan Madushanka and Lahiru Kumara

Maheesh Theekshana will be the primary spinner of the side against India. There should be no doubt on his quality of howling but the best part has been Theekshana's batting lower down the order.

The think-tank led by Chris Silverwood is likely to go with three pacers in Wankhede. Someone like Kasun Rajitha and Dushmantha Chameera should enjoy the conditions of Mumbai. Also, Dilshan Madushanka will be one of the players to watchout for. He has the knack for picking wickets with the new ball and will look to do so against India. He has 13 wickets from six matches.
