India will take on England in the third match of the T20I Series at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. Currently leading the series 2-0, India aims to seal their victory with three matches remaining. The team has performed exceptionally well so far, and England will be looking to recover from their previous defeat.

The focus now shifts to whether the Jos Buttler-led England can make a comeback in Rajkot. Notably, they have chosen to retain the same Playing XI from their last game in Chennai. This article will delve into the major reasons why sticking with the same squad could be a strategic move for England.

Batting Depth Adds To England's Strategy

It is important to mention that, Rajkot's Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium is renowned for its flat, hard pitch that favour batters. England’s explosive top order, featuring Ben Duckett, Phil Salt, and Harry Brook, will look to capitalise on these conditions. Additionally, their middle-order and lower-order options, including Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse, offer stability and firepower.

The Jos Buttler-led side has a formidable batting lineup, extending its depth to No. 9 player that is Jofra Archer. The fast bowler is also capable of contributing lower down the order and can chip in with fews runs with the bat.

This batting depth could prove crucial in countering India’s in-form bowlers and this could be one major reason that they have opted for the same playing XI.

England's Minimal Spin And Maximum Impact Theory

England has opted to play the only one specialist spinner, Adil Rashid in the 3rd T20I as well. This decision could be aligned with Rajkot’s minimal assistance for spinners. The pitch, known for its lack of significant turn makes this a right choice. To support Rashid, all-rounder Liam Livingstone can bowl a couple of overs if required.

This unchanged playing XI signals England’s intent to trust on their strengths, with the belief that stability and adaptability will help them push back into the series. England will aim to prove that consistency in team selection can pave the way for victory in the 3rd T20I at Rajkot.
