Virat Kohli has been one of the biggest names in Indian cricket. He has been the most prolific run-scorer for the team in the post Sachin Tendulkar era. 

If we look at his IPL performance, Kohli has been the highest run scorer in the tournament. With time Kohli has improved his batting and defined brilliance and excellence in his own style.

Virat Kohli had the best year in IPL 2016, when he scored a record breaking 973 runs. However, barring that if see his overall career, he has been consistent throughout. But in terms of consistency Kohli has been at his best five six years.

Virat Kohli's price in the first three years was around ₹12 Lakhs. After his price rose to ₹8.28 Cr and it stayed such till IPL 2013. From 2014 to 2017, Kohli's price was around ₹12.5 Cr and it rose to ₹ 17 Cr in 2018. RCB paid him ₹17 Cr till 2021, but it then took a dip and was ₹ 15 Cr from IPL 2022 to IPL 2024 . For IPL 2025, the franchise has retained him for a price of INR 21 Cr.

Virat Kohli has been an appreciative asset for RCB. During his formative years, he was paid around 12 Lakhs and it looks the justified amount at that stage. During his peak in IPL 2016, Kohli was getting paid around INR 12.5 Cr. Looking at the market and economy then, Kohli might have been a bit underpaid for that particular season. 

The fact that Kohli scored over 600 runs in IPL 2023 and 2024 and was paid less during that phase that previous cycle, points to the fact RCB extracted maximum profit from him during the period. Now, his price has a taken a hike of ₹6 Cr for the next season and as per his performances so far, the Indian legend needs to bring out the best in him in IPL 2025.
