India has finally announced its 15-member squad for the much-awaited Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place from February 19. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar addressed the media on Saturday (January 18), to announce the much-anticipated lineup. The main talking point about the squad was the inclusion of Jasprit Bumrah, however, Mohammed Siraj's exclusion came as a surprise.

Amid the buzz around team selection, attention has now shifted to India’s batting lineup. Here, in this article, let's take a look at three Indian batters who can make a significant impact in the upcoming tournament.

1. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill is undoubtedly regarded as one of India’s brightest young talents in the ODI format. His record in ODIs is nothing short of remarkable and excellence. Since his debut in 2019, he has played 47 matches and made 2,328 runs at an average of 58.20 and a strike rate of 101.75. His impressive tally includes six centuries and 13 half-centuries.

Gill has been an important player in the ODI format because his technique and temperament are well-suited to this format. He also has shown the ability and potential to score big and accelerate when needed, and that surely makes him a key player in India’s top order.

It is also important to note that while his form in the other two formats (Test and T20Is) has been inconsistent, the selectors have shown confidence in Gill by appointing him as the vice-captain for the upcoming Champions Trophy.

So looking at Gill's stats and records, he will definitely be a player to watch out for and can make a strong impact in the upcoming tournament.

2. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli's contribution in the ODI format needs no introduction as he still remains the backbone of India’s batting order. His incredible record in chasing targets and delivering under pressure is unparalleled. With vast experience in ICC tournaments and a hunger to add another title to his career, Kohli will be eager to lead India’s charge with the bat.

Beyond his role as a dependable batter, Kohli’s leadership and mentorship will be one of his most important contributions in Champions Trophy 2025. His experience in handling pressure situations makes him an influential voice in the dressing room as well as on the field.

It is important to mention that Kohli has played 13 matches in Champions Trophy. He has made 529 runs at an average of 88.16 and strike-rate of 92.32.

3. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer has proven to be one of India’s most dependable batters in ODI format and is expected to play a important role in the Champions Trophy 2025. Known for his consistency and calmness under pressure, he has been a cornerstone of India’s middle order.

Since making his ODI debut in 2017, Iyer has been a picture of reliability. In 57 innings, the right-handed batter has scored 2,421 runs at an impressive average of 47.47, including five centuries and 18 half-centuries. Shreyas Iyer's role in anchoring the middle order and providing stability will be vital for the upcoming mega tournament.
