On Wednesday, October 1, Australia and New Zealand will kickstart a three-match T20I series in New Zealand. The two heavyweight nations from the Oceania region will have a go at each other. The upcoming series will serve as a practice ground for both teams heading into the T20 World Cup 2026, which starts in February next year.

Before the start of the much-awaited series, Australia have already dealt two blows as Glenn Maxwell and Josh Inglis are ruled out of the series with injuries. Despite injury concerns, Australia have a strong squad, and so does New Zealand.

Meanwhile, this article will look at three IPL superstars who can pose a massive threat in the upcoming T20I series taking place at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui.

1. Travis Head - SRH

Australia's star opener, Travis Head, is always a threat, and that too in the shortest format of the match. The southpaw, who is ranked fifth in the world T20I ranking, is having slight issues with his form and could only manage to score 26 runs in three matches against South Africa. However, it won't take him long to return to form in the shortest format of the game and irrespective of that, one cannot rule out the threat that Head poses.

While Head is not among the runs in the shortest format of the game, he shone in the ODIs and slammed 142 (103) in the third ODI vs South Africa. Talking about Head's IPL, he had a great time, but he amassed 374 runs in 12 innings, averaging 31.17. Also, Head boasts a great record against New Zealand as the southpaw has played three matches and amassed 102 runs, averaging 34.

2. Rachin Ravindra -CSK

For New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra is also in fine form and has turned things around since IPL 2025. Ravindra had a forgetful IPL season, but changed fortunes in the series he featured in post the cash-studded league in India.

Ravindra scored 91 runs in just four innings in the Hundred, while the 25-year-old also shone in the Zimbabwe tri-series featuring South Africa, where he scored 143 runs in just four innings, averaging 35.75.

3. Tim David - RCB

The Australian powerhouse, who was under the scanner before IPL 2025, is now being considered as one of the best batters in the Australian team. The right-handed batter is in the form of his life and arguably the best finisher in cricket at present.

Tim David was Australia's best batter during the South Africa series and played a major part in RCB's first title. Talking about the IPL, David scored 187 runs in nine innings, averaging 62.33.

4. Josh Hazlewood - RCB

The Australia seamer is also a threat going into the T20I series as Josh Hazlewood is in fine form. The right-arm seamer was instrumental to RCB's maiden title win and is also doing great for the Men in Yellow. The 34-year-old took 22 wickets in 12 innings, bowling at an economy of 8.77.

The fact that Josh Hazlewood is in fine form is a great news for Australia. Further, the 34-year-old took six wickets in three innings against South Africa and continued his excellent run with the ball.

5. Kyle Jamieson - PBKS

Another seamer who is expected to have a great tournament is Punjab Kings' Kyle Jamieson. The 30-year-old took five wickets in four innings in IPL and as he was looking in form, the right-arm seamer got ruled out of injury.

The seamer has been out of action since then, but now he has recovered and is waiting to return to the field.
