The iconic Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur will play host to the penultimate game of the five-match T20I series between hosts India and Australia on Friday (December 1). The match attains great weightage for the series after Austra's thrilling triumph in the last match brought the series scoreline down to 2-1 in India's favour.

Men in Blue will try to avenge that and bag the series honours with a game to spare in Bangalore when they embrace the turf in Raipur, which is hosting its first-ever T20I match, having previously played host to just one international fixture - an ODI between India and New Zealand in January 2023.

It would mean no history for both teams to recall about the ground in terms of the nature of the pitch and overall playing conditions, which makes it an exciting affair as it puts the onus on players to adapt quickly. A fresh surface is likely on offer for the India-Australia T20I as the curator would want a spectacle with runs on board in the ground's first top-level match-up in the shortest format.

SVNS International Stadium Ground Stats

Hailed as one of the biggest grounds in India, the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur has only played host to six IPL matches and some games of the now-disbanded Champions League T20. The India-New Zealand ODI played this January was the ground's first-ever international match.

The forthcoming T20I will be its maiden clash at the highest level in the shortest format, which puts the focus on ground conditions that are expected to be flat for batting as has been the theme of the series with dew further making bowlers' lives extremely difficult.
