It is no secret that India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav hasn’t been at his best with the bat in hand lately. A couple of half-centuries across 12 innings since ICC T20 World Cup 2024 don’t do justice to his potential. More than the fifties, him not contributing much between those stellar knocks has started to become a cause of concern.

Even before the ongoing five-match T20I series against England, the 34-year-old player wasn’t in the best of forms in domestic cricket. Playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai, Yadav crossed the 50-run mark just once across nine limited-overs innings.

Speaking of his latest outing against England in Rajkot, Yadav batted at his preferred No. 3 position but couldn’t do wonders in a 172-run chase. In spite of looking promising on the back of hitting a four and a six within the first six balls that he faced, all he eventually managed were 14 (7) at a strike rate of 200.

How Has Suryakumar Yadav Performed In his Last 10 T20 Innings?

Speaking of his last 10 innings in the shortest format, the right-handed batter has scored 163 runs at an average and strike rate of 16.30 and 125.38 respectively. With half of these innings coming for Mumbai, a best of 70 (46) was posted against Services at the Ranjiv Gandhi International Stadium last month.

As far as international cricket is concerned, Suryakumar Yadav’s last 10 T20I innings have seen him collecting just 172 runs at an average of 17.20 and a strike rate of 149.56 with a best of 75 (35) against Bangladesh at the same ground. SKY, who has spoilt with fans with heroics in this format, has not scored more than one half-century across a period of 10 innings for the first time in his 81-match T20I career.
