JSK vs DSG: Match 29 Preview
Joburg Super Kings
Faf du Plessis' Joburg Super Kings have kept their qualification hopes after their win over Paarl Royals at home on Thursday. They now have 19 points from nine games, with one bonus point after four wins and four losses, while having an NRR of -0.15. To qualify for the playoffs, JSK will have to beat Durban and hope that Pretoria does not win both their games with the bonus point.
In the game against Paarl, Donovan Ferreira and Lutho Sipamla picked three wickets while bowling with an economy under 6 to restrict them to just 150 for nine after the completion of 20 overs. In reply, captain marvellous Faf du Plessis smashed 87 off just 55 deliveries on a sticky surface with six maximums to lead his side to victory by seven wickets inside 18 overs.
Durban's Super Giants
While the Super Kings are still in contention, their rivals in this game, Durban's Super Giants, have been eliminated after losing six of their nine games, whereas two were abandoned due to rain, they have only won one game. Hence, they will be looking to spoil JSK's party.
DSG previously also played against the Royals and lost the game on the penultimate delivery with six wickets remaining as they couldn't defend 143. Kane Williamson (45) and Marcus Stoinis (55*) were the highlights with the bat, whereas Prenelan Subrayen bowled a decent spell of 1/26 in his four overs.
JSK vs DSG: Weather And Pitch Report
Weather
Just like it has been at the Highveld this season, Johannesburg is expected to receive plenty of rainfall on Saturday, with precipitation chances reaching 40% during the evening. The temperature is expected to be around 20 to 32 degrees celsius, whereas wind speed will be 13 kmph while humidity will stay close to 51%. Showers are predicted, which means there is a high chance that there will be some interruptions during the game.
Pitch Report
The pitch at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg has been highly assisting the pace bowlers who hit the deck hard, as seam movement is making it difficult for battles to time their shots. This year, particularly, runs have come here in scarcity, with the average score being 135. The track has been a bit sticky in the previous games, assisting spinners as well, whereas fast bowlers have been lethal, especially in the powerplay. Batters spending time on the crease will find it easy to score as the match progresses. The team winning the toss will likely choose to bowl first, considering scores can be chased here.
