In the first ODI between India Women and Ireland Women at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot, Gujarat, on January 10, Ireland won the toss and chose to bat first. A key highlight of the match is that Smriti Mandhana is leading the Indian side in place of Harmanpreet Kaur, who has been ruled out due to injury. 

On the Indian side, all-rounder Sayali Satghare is making her ODI debut, while Ireland’s Gaby Lewis celebrates a milestone by playing her 50th WODI today.

After winning the toss, Ireland captain Gaby Lewis shared the reasoning behind her decision to bat first: 

Gaby Lewis (Ireland Women Captain): "We are going to bat first, looks like a really good pitch and we had a chance to train here yesterday. We want to put up a good total on the board."
