Cameron Green with Virat Kohli in IPL (Source: AFP)
Cameron Green is one of the most highly rated young cricketers in the world. He has proved himself as a genuine match-winner across formats and recently smashed 118 off 55 against South Africa, reminding everyone of his power and talent.
The cricketer can bat in the top order and has the ability to bowl four overs as well when he is fully fit, which makes him a hot asset in IPL 2026. He was not part of the 2025 season due to injury, but if he is available, there could be many teams that would like to grab him up.
Thus, in this article, we will consider Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders and see which team has the highest probability to buy him.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
RCB, the champions of the 2025 IPL, had a lot of things going their way in the last season, and most of their players clicked in the role the franchise gave them. However, Liam Livingstone, who was bought for 8.75 crore, could not get going and could score just 112 runs in 10 matches. Thus, the RCB management would like to release him and buy a player like Cameron Green.
Expensive Players Who Can Be Released By RCB Before IPL 2026
Players | IPL 2025 Price |
Liam Livingstone | 8.75 Crore |
Rasikh Salam | 6 Crore |
The Australian all-rounder did well for RCB in IPL 2024 and would strengthen RCB's batting line-up even further. Also, the director of cricket in RCB, Mo Bobat, also claimed that they would have retained Green had he been fit for IPL 2025. Thus, they might go after him in the 2026 auction; however, the all-rounder might go in double digits, around 14-15 crore at least, and that is where RCB might lose the battle.
The rest of their players have done well, and they would not like to tinker a lot with their winning combination for one player.
Chennai Super Kings
CSK, the five-time champions, had a poor IPL 2025. They ended with a wooden spoon and could release plenty of their players before the IPL 2026 auction. If they release Ashwin, Conway, Rachin Ravindra and Tripathi, it can free up 23.75 crore, and CSK can go for Cameron Green in that case.
Expensive Players Who Can Be Released By CSK Before IPL 2026
Players | IPL 2025 Price |
Ravi Ashwin | 9.75 Crore |
Devon Conway | 6.25 Crore |
Rachin Ravindra | 4 Crore |
Rahul Tripathi | 3.75 Crore |
He would add more firepower in the CSK batting line-up, which they lacked in the last season, and Green's inclusion will provide an option with the ball as well. However, CSK have the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brevis, Urvil Patel, Shivam Dube in their line-up currently, which is a decent batting core. Thus, CSK might find it a bit difficult to fit in Cameron Green and going after him might also put them at risk of not having enough money to fill in other spots.
Kolkata Knight Riders
The 2024 IPL champions had a poor 2025 season. There are likely to be wholesome changes in their management and leadership group, and they might also release many players before the next auction. One of them is likely to be Venkatesh Iyer. He was bought for 23.75 crore but was not effective, and releasing him will help KKR balance out their squad better. Also, Anrich Nortje might also be released and it would potentially free up around 30 Crore.
Expensive Players Who Can Be Released By KKR Before IPL 2026
Players | IPL 2025 Price |
Venkatesh Iyer | 23.75 Crore |
Anrich Nortje | 6.50 Crore |
Thus, financially, they would be in a great position to go after someone like Cameron Green and might look at him as a long-term replacement for Andre Russell. Also, KKR do not have stable and reliable players in the top four currently, and so they can easily build a batting line-up around Cameron Green.
However, there are also reports that KKR might go for Sanju Samson, as they need a captain and a big Indian name in their side. If they do that, it will chew up good amount of money, and it can put KKR in a tricky position.
Conclusion:
Cameron Green is a genuine match-winner who can win a game for his team both with the bat and ball. Thus, he is likely to go at a price of 14-15 crore in the 2026 IPL auction. Looking at that number, KKR is ahead of RCB and CSK as they are likely to have more money in their bank than the other two teams.
