MS Dhoni is considered one of the finest leaders in the world of cricket and is known for creating some major stars. He has backed a lot of players who have gone on to become legends like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, but there are a few players who sometimes tend to complain about a lack of backing from Dhoni.

Manoj Tiwary Makes Bold Remark On MS Dhoni's Captaincy

Manoj Tiwary is one of those players who were the rising stars along with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He was rated very highly at the international level, but he could not get regular chances and eventually faded out. Now, in an exclusive interview with CricTracker, Manoj Tiwary has opened up on how his career was hampered during MS Dhoni's leadership.

Tiwary was asked about MS Dhoni's reputation for backing young talents. In reply, Tiwary stated that he did not receive the backing that one expects and added that every player has a different experience and they have their own versions. Tiwary added that had Dhoni really backed his players, he would have also got more opportunities after the century he scored against the West Indies in 2011.

"No, I don't think so. See, reputation, perception is something that people go by. But I'm the one, and there are a few others as well in the team who have gone through the period of his tenure as well. So there are a lot of players who have a different version of how he used to back his players. In my experience, see, I can only share my experience, what has happened to me. If he had really backed his players, then he would have definitely backed me because I performed in that particular match and over a period of time," Tiwary said to CricTracker.

Tiwary Hints At Favouritism In Indian Cricket

Tiwary stated that MS Dhoni is a proven leader and everybody likes him, but clarified that he did not receive the backing that other players enjoyed. The former KKR batter also claimed that there were a few players whom MS Dhoni liked personally, and many other people also know about it, but they will not speak up openly. The Bengal cricketer mentioned that he was not among the people who liked MS Dhoni and it was probably the reason that he did not enjoy the backing that some other got.

"But in my case, it didn't happen. I cannot say for the others. Everybody likes MS and obviously, he has proven over a period of time with his leadership, which I always say that, that his leadership qualities were very good. But somehow, in my case, I don't know. He's the only one who can answer your question. But I think there were a couple of individuals whom he really liked and gave full backing at that point in time. A lot of people know, but not everyone comes forward and speaks about it. So there is a very strong liking and disliking that happens in cricket everywhere. So I consider myself not liking one. He did not like me, maybe. That is the only thing that I can answer you".

Thus, Manoj Tiwary has very strongly expressed his disappointment and views about MS Dhoni's leadership. He has retired from the game now, and so has MS Dhoni, but Tiwary, with his bold comments on one of India's greatest captains is bound to raise eyebrows.
