In a significant development, RCB are sweating hard in panic as their skipper Rajat Patidar, who led the team to their maiden IPL title last season, has suffered an injury and is likely to be ruled out for at least four months.

IPL 2026 starts in March, and Patidar is expected to be just fit in time for the cash-studded league. Notably, Rajat has a tear in his muscle and will miss the entire Ranji Trophy campaign, as well as the other domestic competitions.

There is no clarity whether Rajat will undergo conservative treatment or opt for surgery, but injuries such as his usually take longer than expected. Thus, there are chances that the right-handed batter might miss a portion of IPL 2026, which is why this article will shed light on three players that RCB should target during IPL 2026 as back-up for injured Rajat Patidar.

1. Yash Dhull

Former Delhi Capitals and Delhi-based cricketer Yash Dhull is a solid option for RCB to fill in Rajat Patidar's void for IPL 2026. Notably, for last season, Dhull had registered at a base price of 30 lakhs, but found no bidders.

Although for IPL 2026, RCB can target Dhull as the perfect back-up because he had an amazing DPL. Notably, the 22-year-old scored 435 runs in eight innings, averaging 87, which includes two centuries and three fifty-plus scores. Let's look at his detailed stats in recent tournaments.

2. Sharath BR

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have a history of rewarding players who have performed well in Maharaja T20 leagues. Several players have gone on to represent the franchise from the south after shining in Karnataka's premier T20 league.

Meanwhile, in 2025, Sharath BR shone with the bat, and the 29-year-old scored 392 runs in 12 innings, averaging a whopping 35.64. Sharath was the third leading run-getter in the Maharaja T20 league, and despite him being an opener, RCB can try him at Patidar's place in case the skipper misses out because of his injury.

It is worth noting that Sharath BR has played in the IPL and was part of the 2024 season with the Gujarat Titans. Let's look at his detailed stats in recent tournaments.

3. Munnangi Abhinav

A superstar is in the making for Andhra Pradesh as the 20-year-old youngster amassed 269 runs in just seven innings in APL T20 2025, averaging 44.83.

Thus, RCB can target the 20-year-old, and in case the wonderkid turns out to be good, then the Challengers can have one star for the future.
