In a moment of field brilliance, Dewald Brevis latched a sensational catch on the boundary rope to send back Faf du Plessis. After losing control of the ball, Brevis threw the ball back into the air and jumped back in to leap a clean catch.

The fourth fixture of the SA20 2025 season between Joburg Super Kings and MI Cape Town took a dramatic turn as rain interruption reduced the game to 19 overs. MI had set up a 141-run chase, courtesy of George Linde and Delano Potgieter’s 48 and 44 runs contribution, respectively.

In the second innings, despite losing Devon Conway early, Faf du Plessis and Leus du Plooy knitted a 40-run partnership. The Super Kings captain appeared solid with 30 off 23 balls. However, Dewald’s field brilliance ended his gritty stay on the crease.

Facing Kagiso Rabada’s length ball outside the off-stump line, Faf du Plessis aimed for a lofty inside-out drive, and it seemed destined to clear the ropes. But Brevis had other ideas. Timing his jump to perfection, he caught the ball mid-air, tossed it back into play, and then dived back to complete the catch in style.

Third umpire confirmed it to be a clean catch, and Rabada celebrated with arms flailing in pure excitement. However, with a slippery outfield, thanks to rain, Brevis ensured it was a highlight-reel moment that left the crowd in awe. Faf du Plessis departed for 30 off 23 balls, including 4 fours and one six, leaving Joburg in a tough spot.

Jonny Bairstow also failed to show his flair as JSK was reduced to 82/3 before rain stopped the play again, leading to the Emirates' frustration.
