Otago Volts
Otago will be clashing against the Northern Brave for the second time in this season of Super Smash 2024-25 and they have dominated the field the last time they met. Otago Volts delivered a commanding performance to secure an emphatic 8-wicket victory over Northern Brave at Seddon Park, Hamilton.
After a stellar bowling effort led by Jacob Duffy, who picked up 4/19, and Jake Gibson’s 3/19, the Volts bundled out the hosts for a modest 128 in 18.3 overs. The chase was anchored by skipper Dean Foxcroft, who remained unbeaten on 55 off 48 balls, and Glenn Phillips, whose explosive 53* off 30 balls sealed the win with three overs to spare.
Northern Brave
Northern Brave suffered a disappointing defeat to Otago Volts and after opting to bat first, Brave posted a modest total, with Mitchell Santner (49 off 34) and Tim Seifert (37 off 24) providing the only notable contributions. A late collapse saw them lose five wickets for just 10 runs. In defence, Neil Wagner and Tim Pringle picked up a wicket each, but the bowlers struggled to contain Otago’s attack. Hence, after the first loss, Jeet Raval and Co. will look to take revenge in the second game at Dunedin.
