The third edition of the SA20 has got off to a sparkling start. South Africa's pace-bowling all-rounder, Delano Potgieter, single-handedly demolished the two-time champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The brilliant performance by the player ensured that MI Cape Town picked up their first-ever win against Sunrisers in the history of the SA20.

Potgieter Was Not Considered By Any IPL Team During Mega Auction

Notably, the newest star of the South African T20 league enlisted his name for the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, the final list of 574 players, mainly based on the franchises' preferences, did not contain his name. The IPL franchises will now be upset about their choice to ignore this gun of a bowler.

Here are three teams that could have benefitted from Delano Potgieter's presence.

3. Lucknow Super Giants

The Ekana Cricket Stadium wicket is similar to the St George's Park in Gqebherha. Both surfaces are unpredictable and often fool the players into what it will bring. During his five-wicket spell during the first match of the SA20 2025, Potgieter showed that he would have been a perfect fit in the LSG side. Potgieter could have been a game-changer for the team with his ability to extract help from the wicket with both the new and the semi-old ball.

2. Chennai Super Kings

Potgieter is a medium-pace bowler who looks to use the movement of the air when the ball is new. After that, he uses his variations to extract something from the surface when the ball gets a bit old. These are the type of bowlers CSK have used brilliantly over the years. Delano Potgieter would have been the perfect bowler fitting into the CSK plans and delivering what the management generally searches for in their game-changers.

1. Royal Challengers Bengaluru

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have always struggled with their bowling attack in the IPL. They have struggled to find the perfect balance in their line-up, which has been one of the main reasons for most of their failures. However, if you look at the RCB squad for IPL 2025, you will feel that they have assimilated a much more balanced squad this time around. Yet, if they could have picked up Potgieter, RCB would have been free of many headaches. He would have added depth and flexibility to the team's bowling.
