Rajasthan Royals will host Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati tomorrow. First team to lose two IPL 2025 matches, the hosts would be keen to get off the mark for the first time under stand-in captain Riyan Parag.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and his men, on the other hand, have won and lost a match each but batting has been a worry for them thus far. With their middle-order batters averaging and striking at 11.12 and 93.68 respectively this season, they are the only team to average below 15 while striking at less than 100 till now.
In spite of the limited sample size, these numbers can’t be taken lightly as they demand an urgent action for Chennai to remain in the upper half of the points table. Scheduled to play at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium for the first time, Super Kings would want to make amends.
CSK’s XI In Last Match vs RCB
Rachin Ravindra, Rahul Tripathi, Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), Deepak Hooda, Sam Curran, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, MS Dhoni (wk), Noor Ahmad, Khaleel Ahmed
Expected Changes In CSK’s XI
Vijay Shankar In, Rahul Tripathi Or Deepak Hooda Out
CSK, who have a reputation of resurrecting flagging careers, appear to have taken it to heart this time. In what seems to be a forceful attempt regarding Rahul Tripathi and Deepak Hooda, the team management has batted them ahead of established stars in the first two outings. First things first, Hooda will have to be benched for all-rounder Vijay Shankar.

Secondly, Gaikwad should accompany all-rounder Rachin Ravindra at the top of the order. If truth be told, it’s quite bizarre to see them demoting their skipper in the batting order for the sake of adjusting someone else.

Retain Sam Curran
As far as the middle-order is concerned, Shankar and Dube can bat at Nos. 4 and 5 depending on the situation. Dube, in particular, should not be made to bat as late as No. 6 like last night.
Despite all-rounder Sam Curran being a major reason behind Super Kings’ middle-order woes in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, one expects him to be handed a longer rope for all that he has done in the last 12 months. Additionally, calls to include Devon Conway for Curran shouldn’t be entertained considering the difference in their individual performance in the last one year.

With Curran and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja grabbing the remaining two middle-order spots, MS Dhoni should be batting at No. 8 and not No. 9 irrespective of the situation. Due to his greatness, him batting at No. 9 is disservice to his potential.
Chennai’s bowling attack, on the other hand, is largely expected to remain the same tomorrow.
