MLC 2023 | Double Delight - Seattle Orcas, Back-to-Back Roaring Victories

In the 4th match of the Major League Cricket at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Seattle Orcas continued their winning streak, they beat San Francisco Unicorns by 35 runs on Sunday. Seattle Orcas off to a strong start in the league so far, in their first match, they defeated Washington Freedom. Seattle Orcas chose to bat first after winning the toss, they posted the score off 177 runs after losing 4 wickets, Seattle Orcas did not have a good start, Quinton De Kock fell cheaply on 7 runs, Haris rauf knocked him over with a speedy delivery.

Nauman Anwar and Shehan Jayasuriya then tried to steady the ship and took the proper use of the powerplay. Heinrich Klaasen was the standout for them with the bat, scoring 53 runs off just 31 balls including 4 fours and 3 sixes. Shimron Hetmyer also scored 36* runs and helped the Seattle Orcas finish strongly and reach a good score.

Cameron Gannon grabbed 4 wickets and gave away just 24 runs, on the other hand Imad Wasim and Andrew Tye supported him well by picking 2 wickets each. Harmeet Singh also bowled an economical spell, giving just 15 runs in 4 overs and picked the crucial wicket of captain Aaron.



With the bat, San Francisco Unicorns were off to a flyer, Finn Allen and Matthew Wade gave them the brisk start, they added 42 runs in just 3.2 overs for the first wicket but soon after they got out, no other batsman put on a fight for them. Shadab Khan tried to score some quick runs but eventually got out to Cameron Gannon, who bowled a terrific spell for Seattle Orcas.

Cameron Gannon bowled exceptionally well against the San Francisco Unicorns. He varied his pace and bowled at a short and good length area. His first wicket was last match hero, Corey Anderson, he bowled him a bit back of a length and just outside off, Anderson tried to hit him over mid-wicket but fell short and Hetmyer took the easy catch.

For Plunkett, he bowled a short pitch delivery, where Plunkett tried to pull it but got the glove on it. He bowled it at a pace of 133.5 kmph. The game-changing wicket was of Shadab Khan, he mixed his pace wisely and bowled a slower back of a length delivery and got some extra-bounce on it, Shadab tried to pull it but again got the glove and the keeper took the easy catch.

Lastly, he banged a short ball and just outside off, Roux got the thick edge of his bat and again it went to the safest hands of Quinton De Kock behind the stumps. He bowled it at a pace of 130.80 kmph.


Conclusion

The Seattle Orcas are looking pretty strong in the tournament, but still a long way to go, they have to keep this momentum going in the upcoming matches as well, their next match is against the Texas Super Kings on July 22 at Church Street Park in Morrisville.

On the other hand, the San Francisco Unicorns have to strengthen their top-order. Captain Aaron Finch has not scored in both the matches, Marcus Stoinis also has a huge responsibility on his shoulders to perform well in coming matches. Their next match is against Knight Riders on July 19 at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas.
