Abhishek Sharma showed the world why he is rated as one of the best youngsters in world cricket as he smacked a 37-ball century Vs England in the 5th T20I on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium. He tore apart the English attack and was at his imperial best on a wicket which was a batting paradise.

Right from ball one, he started smacking sixes against the English bowlers and reminded fans of his idol, Yuvraj Singh and how he used to torment England. A lot of credit for Abhishek's rise has to be given to Sunrisers Hyderabad, his IPL franchise. Their owner, Kavya Maran played a punt and it worked as both SRH and India are reaping the reward.

Here are key reasons as to why SRH showing trust in Abhishek Sharma was a masterstroke by the franchise.

Abhishek turned out to be David Warner's brilliant replacement

For years, David Warner was SRH's best batter by a country mile. He led them from the front and helped the side win the IPL 2026 title. Till date, he is SRH's leading run-getter and it was always going to be difficult to replace him.

However, SRH waited patiently and instead of spending money on a foreign player to replace Warner, they invested heavily in Abhishek's talent and gave him the license to play his natural game and the team reaped the reward last season as Abhishek was their best batter in the season.

SRH saw a potential which DC couldn't

Prior to joining Sunrisers, Abhishek was associated with Delhi Capitals, however, the franchise saw no potential in him and didn't had the patience to groom him.

SRH and Kavya Maran played a punt and they were patient with the youngster as they saw immense potential. He worked closely with the franchise and became a world beater last season, something which no one expected when he joined the Orange Army.ap
