Sunrisers Hyderabad will look to register their first win of the IPL 2024 when they meet Mumbai Indians on Wednesday evening in Match 8 of the ongoing edition at their home venue, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

In their previous fixture against KKR at Eden Gardens, SRH, led by Australia’s reigning World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins, suffered a four-run defeat. The likes of Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, and Shahbaz Ahmed, among others, tried as much as they could to chase a mammoth 209-run target, but they fell just short of their destination at the end of the innings.

So, how will SRH change their fortune when they take on MI? Will there be any surprising change? Let’s discuss all these here.

First things first, Cummins left everyone in shock by benching Travis Head and keeping Marco Jansen in the playing XI. While the move made more sense given Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen were already in the lineup, it was a major surprise to see Cummins drop one of his most trusted players for his national side.

Now, will Cummins bring in Head this time around? Logically, no. In Head’s absence, both Abhishek Sharma and Mayank Agarwal got to 30s at the top of the order, therefore, playing Head as an opener doesn’t make much sense at this point.

Among the other concerns, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who conceded 51 off his four overs, only gave up seven runs in his first two overs. So, he is expected to be in the lineup, along with the rest of his teammates.

As a result, SRH are unlikely to make any changes to their playing XI which lost to KKR in their tournament opener.
