IPL 2025: Shashank Singh To Justify His Retention By Punjab Kings?

Punjab Kings' star batter and one of their retentions, Shashank Singh, was one of the best founds of IPL 2024. Singh, who was bought by mistake by PBKS, silenced his critics as he ended the season as Punjab's best batter.

Notably, in IPL 2024, he scored 354 runs in 11 games and averaged 44, which featured two fifties. He was retained by PBKS for 5.50 crore. Now the pressure is on Shashank, as he played carefree cricket in IPL 2024, but things would be different in the upcoming season as he would be one of the key players for Punjab.

Thus, this article will shed light on whether he would be able to justify his price tag or not. 

Failure For Chattisgarh In Domestic Cricket

Ever since the conclusion of IPL 2025, Shashank has failed with the bat for Chattisgarh in domestic tournaments. Singh scored just 56 runs in three innings, averaging 18.67. Further, in the Chattisgarh T20 2024, he amassed just 76 runs in six innings, averaging a mere 12.

Failing To Perform Under-Pressure

Thus, it can be said that Shashank can be vulnerable with the bat when eyes are on him. Thus, he needs to improve his skills under pressure and expectations. 

Further, talking about the Punjab Kings, have several all-rounders and power players in the team. Thus, he might bat out of order and chances are high of him faltering in the upcoming edition.

Thus, for Shashank to replicate or mirror his IPL 2024 performance, he needs to play his natural game and not amend things unnecessarily by constantly thinking about the added eyeballs on him while batting.
