With the IPL 2025 mega auction just around the corner, Delhi Capitals (DC) are pulling out all the stops. They’ve already spent ₹43.75 crore on just four players and left fans shocked by releasing their star captain, Rishabh Pant.

Now, DC has some big shoes to fill, especially in the bowling department. With Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav retained for the spin department, DC’s looking to add some firepower and experience to their pace attack. Here are three bowlers, whom Delhi Capitals will target during the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Why Will DC Target Bhuvneshwar Kumar?

Bhuvneshwar Kumar in DC colours would be a game-changer. Known for his swing bowling, knuckleballs and pinpoint yorkers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is a veteran of IPL, with 181 wickets in 176 games and an economy rate of just 7.56. Although he had a quieter season last year with just 11 wickets in 16 games, his knack for keeping calm and delivering under pressure remains gold.

 Released by SRH, Bhuvi brings years of experience and a calmness, qualities that could anchor DC’s young bowling squad. Plus, his ability to get those early breakthroughs could set DC up beautifully in tight games.

Why Will DC Target Gerald Coetzee?

After DC let go of Anrich Nortje, there’s a big void in the pace department. Enter Gerald Coetzee, South Africa’s express pacer with a knack for rattling batsmen. Last season, he picked up 13 wickets in 10 games with MI, and while his economy wasn’t exactly tidy, he was relentless in picking wickets. 

Now, with both IPL and international experience under his belt, Coetzee has grown into a more mature, battle-ready bowler. Fast, aggressive, and always hunting wickets, he could step in as DC’s pace spearhead, ready to strike fear in the opposition. If DC can snatch him, he might just become their go-to quick.

Why Will DC Target Trent Boult?

Trent Boult knows how to work magic with the new ball like few others in the IPL. With 121 wickets in 104 games, Boult’s all about swinging the ball both ways, making him a nightmare for any top-order batter. He’s been with DC before, before heading over to MI, so there’s already a bit of a connection there. 

Adding him back would mean DC can count on those crucial early wickets. Plus, Boult’s solid in the field, which only adds more to DC’s defense. Having him in the squad could really give DC the strong start they need every game.
